Franz Werfel (1890-1945)
The
Austrian writer
was born in Prague and
served in the Austro-Hungarian army both on
the Russian front and in the press office, but was
charged with treason for his vocal pacifism.
He was already an established author, but his
true claim to international fame came in 1933, when
he published "The
Forty Days of Musa Dagh",
a chilling novel which first drew world attention to
the Armenian Genocide at
the hands of the Turks. In 1941
He released The Song of Bernadette. |

Paruyr Sevak (1924-1971)
Sevak is one of the most famous Armenian poets. He
has many poems dedicated to the Genocide. Among his
well known poems about the genocide are
"The Unsilenceable Bell House" (Anlrreli
Zangakatoun),
"Trio Mass" (Yerradzayn Patarak)
and
"We Are Few But We Are Armenian"
(Menk Kich enk). |

Hovhannes Shiraz (1915-1984)
He
was born in Alexandrapol (today Gyumri) on 27th
April 1915,the tragic days of Armenians,
only three days after the terrible massacre of
Armenian writers and other intellectuals. He
passed his childhood during the most tragic times
of Armenian history, starving, thirsty and
barefoot. He has wrote many poems dedicated to
the Armenian Genocide such as "Danteian
Legend" (Danteakan Araspel). |
